When the load is bigger than the doorway
A flat rack is a container floor with reinforced corner posts and collapsible or fixed ends - no roof, no side walls. That means you can load from the side, from above, or drive machinery straight onto the deck.
Because they stack and lock like a standard container, flat racks still travel by ship, rail and truck using ordinary container handling gear. You get oversized capacity without leaving the container system.

Flat racks, answered
A flat rack has end walls - either fixed or collapsible - that help restrain and secure the load. A platform is just the deck with no ends at all. Flat racks are far more common and easier to secure.
On collapsible flat racks, yes. Folding the ends flat lets several empty racks be stacked into roughly the footprint of one container, which cuts return transport cost.
Lashing rings are built into the deck and side rails. Loads are usually strapped, chained or blocked and braced. Our team can talk through restraint before you load.
Yes - that is how most of our flat racks go out. Short-term hire suits one-off machinery moves and project freight far better than buying.
