Used shipping containers for sale
Quality second-hand containers at a sharper price. Every unit is inspected, graded and sold wind & watertight, so you know exactly what you’re getting before it lands on site.
Decades of life left, at a fraction of the price
Shipping containers are built to survive twenty years at sea. When they come off the shipping circuit they’ve usually got another twenty in them as static storage, which is exactly why buying used is such good value.
We hand-pick our used stock, check the doors, seals, floor and roof, and grade every unit honestly. No surprises, no rust buckets.

Know exactly what you’re buying
Used containers aren’t all equal. Here’s how we grade ours. Pick the one that matches your job and budget.
A-Grade
The tidiest used stock we hold. Minimal surface rust, straight panels, clean interior. Best pick when appearance matters.
Best for: offices, retail, front-of-site
Cargo Worthy
Certified fit to carry freight at sea. Structurally sound with normal cosmetic wear. The sweet spot for value.
Best for: shipping, long-term storage
Wind & Watertight
Dry and secure inside, with more visible age outside. Dents and patched paint are normal at this grade.
Best for: site & farm storage
As-Is
Sold exactly as it stands, at our sharpest price. May need repair. We’ll always tell you what’s wrong with it.
Best for: modification projects

FAQ
Buying used, answered
A well-graded used container will typically give you another 20+ years as static storage. Containers are built from Corten weathering steel to survive two decades at sea, so life on dry land is comparatively easy on them.
Cargo Worthy is certified fit to carry freight internationally. It meets a structural standard. Wind & Watertight simply means dry and secure inside; it may have more cosmetic wear and is not certified for shipping. If the container is staying on your site, Wind & Watertight is usually all you need.
Yes. You are welcome to view stock at your nearest branch by appointment. If you are buying remotely we will send photos of the actual unit before it leaves the yard.
Most of our used stock includes a lock box, and we can retrofit one for any container that does not. Just ask when you request your quote.
As a rule of thumb allow roughly three times the container length of clear, firm, level approach, about 18 metres for a 20ft. Our team will talk through access and placement with you before the truck is booked.
Absolutely. Most of our modification projects start with a used shell. We can repaint to any colour and add doors, windows, insulation and fit-out in our NZ workshop.
