Swimming pool built from a shipping container shell

Container pools

A pool without the six-month build

A container pool arrives as a finished steel shell, lined, plumbed and ready to fill. Where a concrete pool means excavation, formwork, curing and months of a wrecked backyard, a container pool is typically placed and running in a matter of days once the site is prepared.

Because the structure is a shipping container, it can sit fully above ground on a pad, be partly dug in, or be wrapped into a deck so it reads as in-ground. On sloping Kiwi sections that flexibility is worth a lot.

FAQ

Container pools, answered

Yes. Any pool holding water over 400 mm deep requires building consent in New Zealand, and compliant fencing is mandatory. We will supply the engineering and specifications your consent application needs.

No. Above ground on a properly engineered pad is the most common and the fastest option. Partly dug in or integrated into a deck both look excellent, and cost more in site work.

An engineered pad or piles capable of carrying the full weight of the pool when filled, plus truck and crane access to place it. We will walk through the requirements with you before you commit.

The shell is Corten steel, the same material that survives twenty years at sea, and it is treated and coated for pool duty. With normal maintenance you should expect a long service life comparable to other pool types.
